Defend Ratios
Last year the O'Farrell government passed laws that
capped public health sector nurses' wage increases at
2.5% and rendered the NSW Industrial Relations
Commission powerless as an independent umpire in
wage negotiat
Now the NSW STATE GOVERNMENT has flagged a
second wave of attacks against the working conditions of
public sector workers including nurses. Barry O’Farrell has accepted the broad thrust of a new report commissioned by his government that advocates the removal of conditions such as ratios from your award.
We Need 10,000 Signatures for the Re-Entry Petition to Nursing and Midwifery
Funding has become available for around 1400 new jobs in the public health system and many nurses and midwives who took time out to have children now want to return to work but are unable to due to the newly introduced recency of practice Standard by APHRA.
The NSW Nurses Association (NSWNA) is hoping to get at least 10,000 signatures by the end of March so it can force a State parliamentary debate on the issue.

Through concerted statewide industrial action and months of negotiations by the New South Wales Nurses' Association, nurses in the state have achieved nurse to patient mandated ratios.
Last day for submissions to workers compensation inquiry

The O'Farrell Government has established a Parliamentary Inquiry into the NSW Workers Compensation Scheme. Submissions can be made by anyone. If you have suffered a workers compensation injury, we urge you to write to the Inquiry and tell them about your experience. Submissions must be made by 17 May 2012.
Time running out for nurses and midwives to renew registration by 31 May
