Accident journey and professional indemnity insurances
Because of the changes to the Workers Compensation legislation effective from June 16, 2012, the NSWNMA has obtained Accident Journey Insurance for financial members. This insurance took effect from 5:00pm on 18th September 2012. The Association also now provides Professional Indemnity Insurance (PII) as part of your membership.

History
Two nurses, Evelyn Nowland and a Miss Clancy, began working separately on the idea of a union for nurses and were brought together by the redoubtable Jessie Street, who saw the improvement of nurses' wages and conditions as a feminist cause.
