The fact sheets that appear below cover eight different topic areas dealing with nursing and nursing practice, they have been compiled by the Associations Professional Team.
Fact Sheet Topics and Overview
1) Nursing In Australia
Gives a deftinition of nursing in australia, includes the practice role of a nurse along with the nurse's role in the healthcare team.
2) Regulation Of Nurses
Lists the Acts of Law that regulate nurse's in each state and territory throughout Australia (e.g. in NSW Nurses and Midwives Act 1991), it also details what these laws cover as well as proposed changes to each of the Acts due to commence in 2010.
3) Regulation Of Nursing Practice
Provides in simple detail the legislative and professional framework governing nursing practice.
4) The Nursing Care Team
Covers the nursing practices for each classification of nursing, from RN to AIN and their role in the nursing team.
5) Nursing Practice Continuum
Covers the various stages of nursing practice, including advanced practice and the different areas of practice.
6) Scope Of Practice
Gives a deftinition of a nurse's scope of practice, defines this in an individual sense and a professional sense, listing the influences on each.
7) Decision Making - In Nursing Practice
Defines decision making and how to undertake decisions in different models and frameworks of practice.
8) Continuing Professional Development
Defines why it is important to continue professional development, listing the requirements nurses must undertake by law to remain practicing.
